Taking good care of your dog is one of your top priorities. Most dog owners are aware that dogs need to get regular check ups with the veterinarian to ensure that they are healthy. They need to get regular shots, and always need to be checked for ticks. Regular checkups are something that are easy to keep on top of, but it can be difficult to know when there is a medical emergency.
Since cats can typically sleep anywhere from 16 to 20 hours per day, it can be hard to tell if your cat is sleeping normally or excessively. However, being able to tell the two apart can make all the difference in detecting illness early on. If you think your cat might be sleeping more than usual, keep an eye out for these three other warning signs that are commonly coupled with excessive sleeping that can confirm your cat is probably sleeping too much due to illness or another health problem.
If you have a dog or you are going to be bringing one home soon, then you may be questioning whether or not you should have the dog fixed. Males get neutered and females get spayed. Neutering and spaying procedures are done to prevent the dog from being able to breed. There are some times when you want to avoid having your dog fixed and a couple of these times include if you are going to be showing the dog professionally in the future or if you think you may want to have them produce a litter at any point.
Approximately 3 percent of full-term puppies have a condition called cryptorchidism, or undescended testicles. Of these, many will self correct within the first year of life. However, about one-third of all those affected will continue to have issues well into adulthood. Fortunately, most dogs undergo neutering, which removes both testicles. Retained and embedded testicles can make neutering more difficult, but it is still highly recommended. If you have young dog who has one or two undescended testicles, there are some things you should know.
There are a lot of illnesses that affect cats. One of them is called feline infectious peritonitis.
Feline Infectious Peritonitis
FIP is one of a group of viruses called coronavirus. In cats, coronavirus attacks the cells of their intestinal walls. The particular virus that causes FIP has been isolated, as has one that is closely related to feline infectious peritonitis but is generally much less severe.
Symptoms
There are two different kinds of FIP, wet and dry.
